Sri Sri University Inaugurates Firing Range
August 19, 2022: For all NCC cadets, range fire is a crucial and required training exercise. The technique of shooting is taught to cadets during weapon training, which is a crucial component of NCC. This is done in order to help the cadets overcome their phobia of guns. The skill of shooting develops a cadet's overall well-being and teaches precision, accuracy, coordination of body motions, confidence, and other skills that help them become better public speakers.
A 50M Short Shooting Range, established by the 1 Odisha Bn NCC (Army) in collaboration with Sri Sri University on August 3rd at around 10:30 am, was officially opened by Gaurav Sharma, Director of Operations, Sri Sri University, and Col. Rajneesh Kapoor, Group Commander, Cuttack NCC Group, Odisha. On this occasion, Col. P K Choudhury, Commanding Officer 1 (O) Bn NCC, Capt. (IN) Chanadra Sekhar Panda, Retd, Director Student Affairs, and Dr Anupam Dakua, CTO, Sri Sri University were there and offered their encouragement to everyone. To commemorate the historic event, a large number of junior officers from the 1 (O) Bn NCC as well as faculty and personnel from Sri Sri University were present.
Around 3000 NCC cadets from various institutions within a 100-km radius of Sri Sri University will be helped by this range. 30 Cadets from six colleges took part in the inaugural session, and they fired 22 Deluxe Rifles under the guidance of JCO for Training N B Thapa. Mr. Gourav Verma, Directorate of Operations, Sri Sri University, and Col. Rajneesh Kapoor, Group Commander, Cuttack NCC Group, presented prizes to the two cadets—a boy and a girl—who fired the most shots at the bull.
