CA exam July 2021 candidates can avail 'Opt Out' option as the ICAI has started the process from today. Candidates who can't appear for July exams can opt out and write the exams in November 2021.

The ICAI has made live the opt out window for candidates who wish to skip appearing in July exams due to COVID-19 and appear for it in November cycle.

Last week, the ICAI had announced that it will provide ‘Opt Out’ option to candidates registered for July exams as many candidates demanded the option due to high number of cases of coronavirus. The ICAI CA July 2021 exams for Intermediate and Final courses are scheduled from July 5 to 20, while the Foundation course exam is scheduled on July 24, 26, 28 and 30.

Candidates can apply for Opt Out from June 28 (11 AM) onwards. The closing window date for Final, Foundation, Intermediate and Intermediate (IPC) are different. The ICAI CA exam fee paid and exemptions granted will be carried over.

The Opt Out option is being provided to only those candidates who are suffering from COVID-19 or have family member/s fighting the infection. Candidates will have to apply for Opt Out option on the official website of the ICAI exams (https://icaiexam.icai.org/) by logging into their accounts. Here are a few conditions to fulfill for availing ICAI CA Opt Out option.  

  • Candidates need to submit Aadhar Card and self declaration form (as prescribed by ICAI) on the ICAI portal 
  • The COVID-19 positive RTPCR report should be issued by the Government recognized laboratory. (The reports shall be verified by ICAI from the said laboratory and in case the same is found to be false/ fabricated, strict actions shall be taken)

  • The candidate is required to submit his/her Aadhar Card along with Aadhar Card of infected relative, as the case may be.
  • The COVID-19 positive RTPCR report shall be of a date which is on and after the date of issue of this announcement to any date up to the conclusion of the examination of the course for which the examinee has applied to appear.
  • Examinees who opt out from CA May/ July, 2021 examination cycle will be allowed to appear for the exam in November 2021 cycle. The last attempt of the Old Course for Final and Intermediate (IPC) exams shall be extended to November 2021 only for those students who are allowed to opt out from May/ July 2021 exams.
  • If a student has opted out in any paper during the entire cycle of the examination then he/she will not be permitted to appear in any of the remaining paper.
  • If a candidate has appeared for first group and then opts out before the conclusion of the examination of last paper of the second group, the result of the first group will be declared and opt out option will apply only to the second group.
