ICAI Offers Opt Out Option to CA July 2021 Examinees
ICAI announces opt out option for CA July 2021 examinees (and family members) who are infected with COVID-19.
The ICAI today announced that candidates who wish to not appear for CA exams to be held in July can opt out and appear in the November cycle. The ICAI CA July 2021 exams for Intermediate and Final courses are scheduled from July 5 to 20, while the Foundation course exam is scheduled on July 24, 26, 28 and 30.
ICAI CA candidates who are infected with COVID-19 or their grandparents, parents, spouse, children & siblings (residing in the same premises) are infected with COVID-19, can avail “opt out option” to the November, 2021 examination cycle. The ICAI CA exam fee paid and exemptions granted will be carried over.

CA July 2021 Exams: Guidelines to Follow for Opt Out Option
Given below are the guidelines issued by the ICAI for examinees availing ‘Opt Out’ facility need to follow:
- Candidates can exercise opt out option by submitting COVID-19 positive RTPCR Report, Aadhar Card and self declaration form (as prescribed by ICAI) on the ICAI portal
- The examinee has to submit the COVID-19 positive RTPCR report issued by the Government recognized laboratory. (The reports shall be verified by ICAI from the said laboratory and in case the same is found to be false/ fabricated, strict actions as decided by the Committee shall be taken)
- The candidate is required to submit his/her Aadhar Card along with Aadhar Card of infected relative, as the case may be.
- The COVID-19 positive RTPCR report shall be of a date which is on and after the date of issue of this announcement to any date up to the conclusion of the examination of the course for which the examinee has applied to appear.
- Examinees who opt out from CA May/ July, 2021 Examination cycle will be allowed to appear for the exam in November 2021 cycle. The last attempt of the Old Course for Final and Intermediate (IPC) exams shall be extended to November 2021 only for those students who are allowed to opt out from May/ July 2021 exams.
- If a student has opted out in any paper during the entire cycle of the examination then he/she will not be permitted to appear in any of the remaining paper.
- If a student has appeared for first group and then opts out before the conclusion of the examination of last paper of the second group, the result of the first group will be declared and opt out option will apply only to the second group.
The ICAI today also informed via official circular that some of the candidates have been allotted test centres in their preferred cities by not in the preferred zones due to dearth of accommodation.
“Due to paucity of accommodation in certain Zones opted by the candidates in the cities of Ahmedabad, Aurangabad, Chennai and Pune some of the candidates have been allotted examinations centres in the zone other than the zone opted by them in the said cities. In view of this, it is not possible to accede to the request of the candidates for transfer to an examination centre in a particular zone of the city opted by them. Similarly, students who had opted Dimapur (Kohima) City have been shifted to Guwahati City,” the ICAI notice said.
