The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is all set to begin the academic session 2020-21 for existing and new students from August 1, and September 1, respectively. According to the reports, the university rescheduled the admission and departmental tests for various courses in July/early August and complete new admissions by August 31, 2020.
The decision was taken in a meeting, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Tariq Mansoor. Deans of various faculties and other officials were also present in the meeting. The panel of the meeting discussed various academic events and activities such as online teaching, examinations and academic calendar for 2019-20 and 2020-21 sessions.
The reports suggest that the faculty of the University will be preparing e-content/e-lab experiments and upload them on AMU’s official website to strengthen the online teaching. To encourage use of ICT and online teaching tools, the authorities decided that 25 per cent of the syllabus must be completed online and the teachers must strive to complete 75 per cent through regular classes. To maintain regular communication with them, each student will be assigned a faculty advisor.
According to the Controller of Examinations, Mujib Ullah Zuberi, the University will continue the online teaching for the session 2019-20 up to May 31, and use the period from June 1 to June 15 for finalisation of reports/dissertation/e-labs/completion of syllabus/internal assessment/assignment/ project work.
Talking about the attendance of the students during the lockdown, the University stated that the period of lockdown will be treated as `deemed to be attended` by all students and attendance will be marked accordingly.
