BHU to take decision on conducting offline classes on March 25

Due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus and the nationwide lockdown imposed by the government in order to contain the virus spread, the University is conducting online classes since March last year.

BHU Reopening: In order to discuss the possibilities of conducting offline classes, reopening campus for students on regular basis and resuming other academic activities in the campus amid the ongoing pandemic situation, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) organised a high-level meeting with university officials on March 15. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Rakesh Bhatnagar chaired the meeting along with several members of the university including Rector Professor BK Shukla and Registrar Dr Niraj Tripathi to discuss the aforesaid important points.

To assess the latest state of the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the region, the university officials decided to meet again on March 25. According to an official statement released by the Banaras Hindu University, “It was decided in the meeting that the situation will be reviewed once again after ten days i.e. on March 25, 2021, and in view of COVID-19 and in the light of the guidelines of the Government of India, the appropriate decision will be taken keeping in mind the interest of students.”

Sharing details regarding the meeting held in order to discuss resuming of academic activities in the campus, BHU via its official social media handle said: "In connection with the opening of Kashi Hindu University, the situation was reviewed after a high-level meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Rakesh Bhatnagar."
