CA exams 2021 to be held as per schedule, candidates can opt out if infected with COVID

The CA exams 2021 will be conducted as per schedule and the candidates who are infected with COVID-19 will be allowed to opt out by getting a certificate from a doctor, the Supreme Court said and added that it will not be considered as an attempt.  

RT-PCR report not mandatory for opting out of exam 

The candidates need not submit an RT-PCR report if they submit a certificate by a registered medical practitioner that they have been infected with COVID, the apex court said. Such candidates will be permitted to repeat old and new courses in 2021 subject to conducive situations. It directed the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to come up with an inclusive opt-out option for Covid-affected students.  

The SC said if a student contracts the virus during the exam and is unable to appear for the remaining papers, he/she will be allowed to opt out and his exams should not be considered as an attempt. They can take the exam in the next November cycle. The option can be exercised by students in case their exam centres are changed due to some reason. 

“We direct that candidate should be allowed to opt out and it will not be treated us an attempt. Such candidate can appear in backup when situation is conducive,” it said and added that candidates will be allowed to opt out of the exam if there is a last minute change in the examination centre, even within the city.

ICAI CA Exams 2021 Schedule

CA final exams 2021 will begin on July 5 and continue till July 19. CA inter exams 2021 are scheduled to be held between July 6 and July 20, whereas CA foundation exams, which were earlier scheduled from June 24, will now begin from July 24. Check: ICAI CA July 2021 Exam Dates
