Central Sanskrit Universities Bill 2020 passes in parliament

After getting a clearance from the Rajya Sabha of Indian Parliament, the Central Sanskrit Universities Bill, 2020 has been passed. This will help transform three prevailing Sanskrit universities into Central Sanskrit Universities.

After getting a clearance from the Rajya Sabha of Indian Parliament, the Central Sanskrit Universities Bill, 2020 has been passed. This will help transform three prevailing Sanskrit universities into Central Sanskrit Universities. The names of the three universities are Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth (New Delhi), Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (New Delhi), and Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth (Tirupati). Union Human Resource Development minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' expressed gratitude towards the members of the house for their cooperation in passing the Bill. He asserted that now these 3 universities will get more chances to spread the understanding of Sanskrit language not only in India but also across the globe in an enhanced manner. 

The minister asserted that Sanskrit is a scientific language and a language of intelligence. He also asserted that the world is looking forward to the Sanskrit language therefore it is being taught not only in Indian colleges and universities but also in eminent varsities of the world. On Sanskrit, the minister also cited views of some famous people such as former president of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, great scientist Sir C.V. Raman, and German-born philologist Max Muller. He marked that Sanskrit is a language consisting of special characteristics and exclusive in so many areas such as meaning, pronunciation, grammar, accuracy etc. 

According to the Union government, this is one of the landmark Bills passed by the Parliament. The bill has achieved the ambitions and long-standing desires of many scholars, Sanskrit lovers and Sanskrit speaking people in the country. The Central University status given to these universities will augment the eminence of these universities and will boost the doctoral and post-doctoral education, postgraduate, and research in the field of Sanskrit and Shastraic education.
