GATE 2025 Feb 1 Live Updates

GATE 2025 Exam for Computer Science and IT (CS1 and CS2), followed by other papers (AG, MA, NM, MT, TF, and IN), will be conducted TODAY (Feb 1) in two shifts: (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm). Candidates appearing in the GATE must reach the centre 90 minutes before the exam start date. 

This year, IIT Roorkee is conducting the GATE 2025 exam for the scheduled dates: Feb 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025. GATE, otherwise called the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, is a national-level entrance examination conducted to offer admission to Masters in Technology (MTech) and direct PhD admissions to the IITs, NITs, IISc, IIITs, and other institutions/universities across India.

Steps to Download GATE 2025 Hall Ticket

The GATE exam hall ticket was released on January 7, 2025. Registered candidates can access the admit card at the GOAPS portal. The step-by-step process to download the GATE admit card is as follows-

  1. Visit the GATE official website - gate2025.iitr.ac.in
  2. Click on the GATE admit card link 
  3. Enter the required credentials - GATE enrollment ID and password. 
  4. Check all the details and download the hall ticket.

What to Carry to the GATE 2025 Feb1 Exam Day?

Candidates appearing in GATE 2025 CS1, AG, MA, CS2, NM, MT, TF, and IN paper must carry the following documents and items to the GATE exam centre-

  1. GATE 2025 admit card
  2. Valid ID proof, such as an Aadhar card, PAN Card, Passport, Driving License, etc. 
  3. A ballpoint pen/pencil
  4. A transparent water bottle

GATE 2025 CS1, CS2, AG, MA, NM, TF, and IN Exam Day Instructions

IIT Roorkee imposes strict guidelines to ensure the exam process is conducted smoothly. Candidates appearing for the GATE 2025 Feb 1 exam should check the exam day instructions issued by the IIT Roorkee, provided here -

  1. Candidates must report to the exam centre at least 90 minutes before the exam date. 
  2. Candidates must carry a valid photo ID with a passport-size photograph, such as an Aadhaar card/PAN Card/Voter ID/Passport. 
  3. Electronic gadgets like mobile phones, pagers, calculators, etc. are prohibited at the exam centre.
  4. A scribble pad will be provided inside the exam hall for rough work. Candidates must write their name and registration number on the scribble pad before using it.
  5. Candidates are allowed to carry their pen and pencil. A transparent water bottle is allowed to be taken to the exam hall.
  6. Candidates cannot leave the exam hall before the end of the exam.
  7. PwD applicants must bring their assistive devices, if any and show them to the exam centre for scrutiny. 
  8. PwD candidates who have been granted one-hour compensatory time in the GATE examination can leave the hall after 12:30 pm (for the morning session) and after 5:30 pm (for the afternoon session). 
  9. After completing the exam, candidates must click on the “Submit” button only in the presence of the invigilator. Once they click on the submit button, the responses will be frozen, and the exam will end for them.

    GATE 2025 marking scheme

    The marking pattern is different for each question type, which are as follows -

    Q:   What is the minimum mark or rank required in JEE Main to get a seat in the BSc department of IISc Bangalore?

    A:

    IISc Bangalore cutoff 2024 has been released for B.Sc. (Research) in Physics in the form of opening and closing ranks. IISc Bangalore had released its last-round for the candidates seeking admission through JEE Main scores. The minimum rank for B.Sc. (Research) in Physics based on last-round cutoff was 903 for the students belonging to the General All India Quota.

    Q:   Is it necessary for a candidate to attempt all questions in GATE?

    A:

    GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is a national-level examination conducted for Master of Engineering (ME), Masters in Technology (M.Tech), and direct Ph.D. admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other institutes/universities across India.

    The GATE paper consists of a total of 65 questions. Check below for the GATE exam pattern. - The GATE Questions paper consists of two sections, namely General Aptitude (GA) (15 marks) and the subject-specific GATE paper (85 marks). - The General Aptitude (GA) section consists of 10 questions. 1 to 5 questions are worth 1 mark each, and the rest, 6 to 10, are worth 2 marks each. - The GATE paper subject-specific section consists of 55 questions, of which 1 to 25 are of 1 mark each and questions from 26 to 55 are of 2 marks each. - Here to be noted that, questions that are not attempted will result in zero marks. Therefore, wrong answers to multiple-choice questions (MCQs) will result in negative marking. For questions of the numerical answer type, there is no negative marking. Also, for MCQ questions, a wrong answer will result in a deduction of 1/3 mark for a 1-mark question and 2/3 mark for a 2-mark question.     Q:   What is the expected JEE Main cutoff 2024?

    A:

    NIT Manipur JEE Main cutoff 2024 has been released for admission to the BTech courses. During the Round 1 cutoff, the closing rank for CSE was 25886 for the General category students under the AII India Quota. Among OBC candidates, the closing rank for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering stood at 8750.     Q:   What is GATE cutoff for IISC Bangalore?

    A:

    IISC Bangalore cutoff 2024 has been released for admission to the MTech programmes. For the General AII India category candidates, the round 1 closing rank ranged between 350 and 665, among which Mechanical Engineering is the most competitive specialisation.     • Candidates must carry the admit card printout and a valid photo ID card for verification purposes.
    • Candidates must reach the exam centre 90 minutes before the commencement of the exam. They will not be allowed to log in 30 minutes after the start of the exam.
    • Candidates will be permitted to occupy their seats before the exam starts. Candidates can log in and start reading the instructions 20 minutes before the start of the exam. 
    • Physical calculator is not allowed inside the exam centre. Instead, candidates will be provided with a virtual scientific calculator that will be available on the candidate’s computer.
    • A scribble pad will be provided to do rough calculations. Candidates must write their name and registration number before using it. If the scribble pad is filled, then they can ask for another scribble pad, after returning the previous one to the invigilator. 
    • Candidates are not allowed to leave the exam hall before the end of the examination.
    • PwD candidates can carry their assertive devices, if any and show them to the examination centre personnel for scrutiny. 
    • PwD candidates who have been granted one-hour of compensatory time in the GATE 2025 exam are allowed to leave the exam hall after 12:30 pm (in the forenoon session) and after 5:30 pm (in the afternoon session) by clicking on the submit button in the presence of the invigilator.

    GATE 2025 Day 1 Exam Live Updates: Steps to download the GATE 2025 admit card

    Candidates appearing for the GATE must download their admit card from the GATE’s official website/GOAPS portal. The GATE 2025 admit card was released on January 7, 2025, for all subjects. The steps to download the hall ticket are as follows -

    • Visit the official GATE website- gate2025.iitr.ac.in
    • Click on Apply Online and login using your GATE enrollment ID and password
    • After logging in, the application status and option to download will be displayed on the screen

    GATE 2025 exam dates
