Central University of Orissa ranked no. 20 in Central Universities category in government rankings

Central University of Odisha secures 20th rank among all the central universities in the country in the Ministry of Education ranking. Read further to know more.

The Central University of Odisha (CUO) has got 20^th rank amongst all the central universities in the country. The rankings were released by the Ministry of Education. The score is based on an evaluation of key parameters fixed under Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2019-20. All the Universities were asked to sign a tripartite with the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and University Grants Commission (UGC) for continuous evaluation.

Out of 283.5 marks, the CUO has got 171.8 marks, which is 61 per cent of the total score. The performance helped the varsity to secure 20^th rank among 40 central universities of the country. Universities like Visva-Bharti got 50 per cent score, University of Allahabad got 33 per cent and 18 other universities secured lower scores than that of the CUO, revealed the Grading/ Scoring performance of the Central Universities.

Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI) has secured the first position among all the central universities in the country with a score of 90 per cent. While Jamia scores 90 per cent, Rajiv Gandhi University of Arunanchal Pradesh scored 83 per cent, Jawaharlal Nehru University scored 82 per cent, and Aligarh Muslim University scores 78 per cent.

The Central University of Odisha has been established by the Parliament under the Central Universities Act, 2009 (No. 3C of 2009). It is one of the 15 new Central Universities established by the Government of India during the UGC XI Plan period. The university is accredited from NAAC and approved by UGC. It offers several UG, PG and Doctoral courses in various specialisations.
