Wushu Association of India Organises 29th Senior National Wushu Championship at Chandigarh University

February 26, 2021: The Wushu Association of India is organising the 29th Senior National Wushu Championship at Chandigarh University - Sports Complex from February 26 to March 2, 2021. More than 1,000 players from various countries of the world are taking part in this five-day tournament.

To grace the event, the association has invited Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Sodhi as the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony. Alongside, ChiefCcoach of the Indian Wushu Team Kuldeep Handoo with renowned Wushu players and Dronacharya Awardees - Pooja Kadian, M Bimoljit Singh and Sandhya Rani Devi will be felicitated on their excellent accomplishments at national and international levels.

The five-day National Men's and Women's Wushu Championship will be witnessed by 32 teams from over 28 states and eight union territories. The championship rivalry takes place in the Taolu and Sanda categories. Under Wushu's Sanda tournaments, the boys' team plays under 11 different weight categories, while the girls compete under eight different weight categories.

Chandigarh University to Organise an Influencer Talk with the ‘Innovator’ Rishabh Raj

February 23, 2021: Chandigarh University is organising an Influencer Talk with the innovator Rishabh Raj, a third-year CSE student at Chandigarh University on February 24 at 6:00 pm.

Persistently aspiring and working tirelessly to put his innovations to the fore, Rishabh Raj is a dedicated innovator who already has over 24 patents in his name. One of his many unique inventions was a keyboard built to match various sizes. The student's consistency and dedication have inspired him to reach out to others. Exploring any chance on his way, Rishabh made sure he took the others along as well.

Rishabh Raj has already coached over 5,000 students from the IIT, NIT and Chandigarh University. With the passing of a day and every week, he continues innovating and connecting more students. There is more to it, though than what meets the eye. Raj might seem very straightforward trying to do something, but it takes a lot of hard work and determination. Chandigarh University to Host Live Conversation with CSE Alumni Placed at Microsoft

February 18, 2021: Chandigarh University, which was deemed the chosen recruiting centre for most of the top firms, recorded a 60 per cent rise in campus placements this year. Companies such as Microsoft, Deloitte, Amazon, Google, Walt Disney, IBM, Jet Airways, Vistara, Honda and many more engage actively in the placement and internship season every year.

One such success story is that of CSE student Pranshu, who recently graduated from Chandigarh University with a placement bid from Microsoft. In order to engage in a dialogue with him, the University will hold a lecture on February 19 welcoming other students and faculty members. The dialogue will discuss a variety of main aspects that will instruct students on how to ensure their placement in the top blue-chip business. From training for a placement push to learning about working with Microsoft, Pranshu will open up on his journey and give insight into what students need to concentrate on.

Chandigarh University Hosts Live Interaction Session With Ias Sonal Goel

February 2, 2021: With an aim to introduce students to the renowned motivators and leading women mentors of the country, the Digitech Department of the Chandigarh University recently hosted a live session on Transforming India by Niti Ayog and TEDx Speaker IAS Sonal Goel.

While addressing the audience, Sonal talked about the 'Youth's Role in the digital era to make India global superpower’. The session was conducted on February 2 at 4:30 pm.

Chandigarh University to Host International Webinar on the ‘Global Challenges of Modern Time’

January 20, 2021: With another initiative towards a better learning experience for the students of Chandigarh University (CU) and with an aim to introduce them to global level industrial practices, the University is all set to host the two-day international webinar on ‘Global Challenges of the Modern Time’. The event is planned to be held on January 30-31.

To grace the event, the university has invited judges from the Supreme Court of India and prominent industry experts and leaders across the globe. This panel of distinguished leaders includes Hon'ble Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar (Supreme Court Judge, Former Chief Justice, Madhya Pradesh High Court and Himachal Pradesh High Court), Hon'ble Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul (Supreme Court Judge, Former Chief Justice Madras High Court and Punjab, and Haryana High Court), Hon'ble Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai (Supreme Court Judge, Former Judge Bombay High Court), and Hon'ble Justice Surya Kant (Supreme Court Judge, Former Chief Justice Himachal Pradesh High Court) amongst other.

Education Minister launches National-Level Entrance-Cum-Scholarship Test CUCET 2021

December 22, 2020: Chandigarh University (CU) recently announced the launch of its CUCET 2021 exam. To address the students and the audience at the event, the university invited Union Minister for Education, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal. The National Admission-Cum-Scholarship Examination will offer academic scholarships worth Rs 33 crore to students in more than 135 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by the University. Meritorious students on the basis of CUCET-2021 scores will be eligible for scholarships up to 100 per cent in academic fees.

In his address, Dr Pokhriyal said, “We have also seen instances of drop-outs in the Indian Education System where well-founded students have to opt-out of higher education due to financial constraints. CUCET-2021 is an initiative to plug these drop-out cases by giving a helping hand to such promising students from all over India.”

The student can fill an online application form and can appear online with the versatility to select their date and time slot. CUCET-2021 will be conducted in two stages, the first phase being from December 2020 to May 2021.

Chandigarh University Listed Among Leading Indian Institutions Filing Highest Number of Patents in a Year

October 10, 2020: Office of Controller General of Patents, Design and Trademarks recently released a report based on which Chandigarh University (CU) was ranked second among leading institutions in India for filing one of the highest numbers of patents in a year, i.e., 336.    

The fast speed of today's modernised world calls for groundbreaking technical developments. For a nation rooting for development focused on creativity, being knowledge-driven is crucial. Chandigarh University, Gharuan (Mohali), has emerged as the Largest Stand-Alone University in India with the largest number of 336 patents per year, working actively to contribute to making India self-reliant. The annual rankings for the year 2018-19 were recently published by the Government of India's Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, which consists of academic institutions and multinational corporations. As per the report released, 27 IITs have collectively filed 557 patents and are leading as a group whereas the CU leads as an individual university followed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) with 239 patent applications, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) with 202 applications and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) with 173 applications.

In addition, with the varsity allocating an annual budget of Rs 6.5 crore for the promotion of Science & Innovation among the students, Chandigarh University stressed Research and Innovation. More than 30 Industry Funded R&D Labs and 14 Centre-of-Excellence have been developed by the University to facilitate cooperation between industry and students on real-time projects. Additionally, Chandigarh University has set up 50 Core Study Groups of 1500 students and faculty who have so far contributed to the filing of 336 patents.

Chandigarh University Receives Software Donation Worth $14,080,000 To Boost Engineering Programs

September 29, 2020: Yet another Software License Agreement with one of the leading tech company  Rock Flow Dynamics with an aim to enrich the learning experience of Petroleum Engineering & allied streams students and boost the Engineering programs especially in the courses of Geology, Reservoir and Production Engineering with functional module Geology Designer, PVT Designer, VFP Designer, Network Designer, Simulation engines: Black oil, Compositional, Thermal compositional.

The software license will help students of Chandigarh University in the field of Petroleum Engineering develop their expertise and prepare a more skilled and qualified workforce for the present and future. Besides integrating students with vital skills, perspectives, and knowledge, the software will also allow them to develop their imagination and give shape to their thoughts.

RFD has granted free-of-charge 88 Single-User licenses valued at $14,080,000. The tNavigator is a high-performance platform constructed by Rock Flow Dynamics for combined static and dynamic modelling between reservoir and surface network. For 15 years, tNavigator has been in progress, delivering four app upgrades annually.

University Inks MoU with Petroleum Engineering Software Company, Kappa

September 22, 2020: With an aim to impart more practical exposure to the engineering students, Chandigarh University recently entered into an agreement with Petroleum Engineering Software Company, Kappa. The company offers training in Dynamic Data Analysis; namely, transient and production analysis, production log analysis, data management, modeling and history matching.

The software license agreement with Kappa will facilitate 25 students access to six premium Softwares namely Saphir, Topaze, Rubis, Azurite, Emeraude and Citrine worth €4,500,000. These high-quality softwares will help the students of engineering programmes, particularly in Reservoir and Production engineering courses. Having benefitted from this alliance, Chandigarh University will now be able to carry on research related initiatives and support the teaching of industry-standard applications,

After Microsoft, IBM, Wipro, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, Videocon and many more technology-based industry collaborations, the Software Agreement License with Kappa is another major higher educational collaboration for Chandigarh University within a very short span of time

September 16, 2020: QS I-Gauge India Rating Agency has recently unveiled its 2020 version of India’s leading top and best colleges and universities. University Reports 4,000 Offers Floated in Phase-I of Placements

January 16, 2020: Chandigarh University has reported that the economic slowdown has had no impact on campus placements. The University successfully placed over 4,000 students across domains such as management, hotel management, pharma, biotechnology, media and other programmes of 2020 batch in top companies across varied industries. The highest package offered this year was Rs 31.77 lakh. Companies such as Accenture, Wipro, Cognizant, Capgemini, L&T, Hewlett Packard, Tech Mahindra and IBM have made maximum offers in the past five years. To amaze, world’s leading entertainment company, Walt Disney USA has made 47 offers  this year which is the highest number of selections made by Walt Disney pan India.

Engineering Students Design Biometric Security System for Two-Wheeler

January 14, 2020: Final-year students of automobile engineering from Chandigarh University Khushwinder Pal Singh and Vikramjit Singh, have devised a solution to make the two-wheelers safer to avoid the risk of theft. Students developed a biometric fingerprint two-wheel protection package to be mounted on a two-wheel bike or scooter that would be connected directly to the vehicle's ignition point. The research was presented to committee members basis which the funds were allocated to these students. The research continued for eight months and the cost came out to be Rs 24,000 per security kit which was expensive for common people. Based on permutation and combinations, they have been successful to bring the cost down to Rs 4,000. Patents have been filled for this technology.

Chandigarh University Ranks A+ by NAAC

September 16, 2019: Chandigarh University has been ranked A+ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). This ranking has added institution’s name in the list of elite and prestigious institutes known for their quality education to students. It is the first private university across India to earn this ranking in first cycle of accreditation process and Punjab’s only university earn this reward.

NAAC is an independent body that evaluates higher education institutes basis parameter such as curriculum, teaching-learning process, research undertaken, governance, new initiatives and student services.

Yes Chandigarh University is first Private University in Northern Region, who got NAAC A+ in first attempt. This achievement is due to quality education make and maintained by CU within 07 Years
