Coronavirus Outbreak: AMU issues advisory, asks students to avoid travel plans

The University has asked the staff members and students to cancel avoidable travel outside Aligarh and avoid organizing or attending gatherings of more than 100 people for conferences, functions, workshops, seminars, etc. till April 15.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19/Coronavirus in India, the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has issued an advisory stating that all the educational tours outside Aligarh district are postponed till April 15, 2020. It has also said that the matter will be reviewed again after two weeks depending on the situation. World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared Coronavirus a pandemic and it has created a state of panic and fear in the country.

During the announcement, AMU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor advised the staff members and students to cancel avoidable travel outside Aligarh and avoid organizing or attending gatherings of more than 100 people for conferences, functions, workshops, seminars, etc. till April 15.

Talking about the precautionary advisories released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and University Grants Commission regarding COVID-19, AMU Public Relations Officer Omar Saleem Peerzada expressed that it should be shared and circulated in masses and should be religiously followed by all staff members and students.

Not just Aligarh Muslim University but all the other Universities are taking strong steps in order to protect their staff members and students from the Pandemic Coronavirus.

Top Business schools like IIM Indore, Lucknow, Shillong, Ahmedabad, XLRI and more have postponed their annual convocations. Delhi University has asked its students and teachers to go online. The University of Delhi has canceled class lectures and has stated that the teaching-studying technique will be continued online till March 31, 2020. Following the steps of Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), and more have also suspended their classroom lectures and events till March 31, 2020.
