Coronavirus Outbreak: IIT Delhi to help alumni studying in foreign universities

During the prevailing emergency conditions, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) decided to extend helping hand towards its recent alumni who are studying or doing research works in the foreign universities.

In the wake of the novel coronavirus outbreak, the education system around the globe is under lockdown. Boards are postponing examinations, classes are suspended, university exams are canceled, hostels are vacant, evaluation work is stopped, and results are delayed. During the prevailing emergency conditions due to the pandemic, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) decided to extend helping hand towards its recent alumni who are studying or doing research works in foreign universities.

Intending the latest tweets to the instituteโ€™s alumni doing higher studies in the US and other foreign universities, on its official twitter handle, the IIT-D stated that a large number of universities in the US and Europe are closed and students may have asked to vacate their dormitories. In such a crucial time, if any alumni of IIT-D is struggling to find accommodation and facing other problems, they can write to โ€˜deanaaip@iitd.ac.inโ€™.

The institute further added that they will try to locate the senior alumni and ask them to help the recent alumni. IIT-D also made this clear that one shall ping only if s/he really needs the help as the institute will be requesting the other alumni for the help.

On March 12, IIT Delhi released an advisory related to the cancellation of all classes and exams till March 31. The decision was taken considering the coronavirus outbreak in several parts of the country. With immediate effect, public gatherings on the campus were also been canceled. The institute also urged the students to suspend all events on the campus that involve large gatherings.
