The admission tests for the University’s different schools were scheduled earlier for March 22 and March 29.
The Aligarh Muslim University on Tuesday i.e. March 17, 2020, decided to suspend all admission tests to its various schools slated earlier till March 31, 2020, till further notice. The University has confirmed the suspension of the admission tests through an official notification. The decision has been taken in the view of the COVID-19/Coronavirus outbreak.
According to the notification, while the admission tests have been suspended, the Aligarh Muslim University will conduct the semester examinations for different classes as per the schedule. The admission tests for the University’s different schools were scheduled earlier for March 22 and March 29. However, the tests will be held on fresh dates to be announced later.
The suspension has affected thousands of students. According to the reports, more than 25, 000 students had registered to appear for the above two admission tests.
World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared COVID-19 as a Pandemic. State governments are shutting down academic institutions, colleges, schools, universities, and other events that attract large gatherings. Following the precautionary advisory released by the Uttar Pradesh government and Health Ministry, AMU had already suspended its classes. The University also took a major step by suspending all teaching work till March 31.
University’s senior faculty and students who have returned to the country during the past two weeks have been advised to remain in self-quarantine for the next two weeks. The staff members who fall into this category will be given paid leaves.
The advisory released by the Aligarh Muslim University applies to the University’s off-campus centres situated in West Bengal, Kerala, and Bihar.
