The varsity also claimed that the designed vaccine won’t destroy the human cells or proteins but act as an immune response against the virus.

A faculty member, Seema Mishra of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) claimed to have designed a potential vaccine against the COVID-19 virus. According to the reports, the faculty member claimed to design what can be a potential vaccine against the coronavirus, called T-cell epitopes. The press release of the University stated that ‘to be studied in vitro for conclusive evidence, the research has been shared with the scientific community’.

The university further stated that their faculty member, Seema Mishra of the Department of Biochemistry, School of Life Sciences created small coronaviral peptides or molecules that can be used by cells to trigger an immune response to destroy coronavirus infected cells.

The varsity also claimed that the designed vaccine won’t destroy the human cells or proteins but act as an immune response against the virus. However, in order to provide conclusive evidence, these results have to be investigated experimentally. It further claimed that these are the first studies on the nCoV vaccine design from India exploring the whole coronaviral proteome across structural and non-structural proteins that make up the virus created.

However, Hyderabad University also added that as of now the best way to keep yourself safe from the novel coronavirus is practicing social distancing. The university stated that the vaccines will take some time and they hope that their computational findings will provide a cost and time-effective framework for rapid experimental trials towards an effective nCoV vaccine.

Meanwhile, the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G) is also working towards the direction of developing a vaccine against the coronavirus pandemic. The team is also working on rapid detection and portable diagnostic kits for various viruses and microorganisms.
