The All India Council for Technical Education has instructed all its affiliated institutes to inform students to not take up summer internships in other organisations. It has also asked the institutes to provide their students internships on which they can work from home.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has directed all its affiliated institutes to instruct students not to take any summer internships in other companies. It has asked all the institutes to give their students internships on which they can work while staying at home. This moves in the wake of 21-days lockdown imposed in the country due to the coronavirus outbreak.

During this time of the year, students take a summer internships to get real-time projects and engagements.

AICTE has asked all its approved institutes to give challenging problems as internship which can be done from home.

After many students raised their concerns against the decision, the AICTE again tweeted important instructions regarding the compliance of its mandatory internship policy in the present situation.

The internship guidelines tweeted by AICTE stated that all ongoing internships, where companies are allowing work from home shall continue. It has directed all the institutes to abide by all the social distancing guidelines issued by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other measures promulgated by the government.

Responding to the decision taken by AICTE, one student tweeted that this is not a good idea and it will harm a lot of students especially those who have worked really hard to get an internship. Our future depends on it, so please reconsider.

After the AICTE announcement, many students through tweeter showed their disagreement and asked AICTE not to cancel their internships and rather delay it.
