COVID-19 impact: NTA, AICTE warn students against fake news
According to the official notice released by the Agency on its official website, a fake notice is being circulated on social media claiming that the JEE (Main) examination is rescheduled for the first week of July 2020.
National Testing Agency (NTA) warned students against the fake notice under the name of NTA being forward on different social media platforms. According to the official notice released by the Agency on its official website, a fake notice is being circulated on social media claiming that the JEE (Main) examination is rescheduled for the first week of July 2020.
Warning the students to stay aware against the fake news circulation on social media, NTA stated, ‘It has come to the notice of the National Testing Agency (NTA) that a fake Public Notice dated 14/04/2020 has been circulating in social media regarding rescheduling of the JEE(Main) examination to the first week of July 2020. All candidates who are due to appear for JEE(Main) examination are hereby informed that there is no truth in the circulated fake Public Notice. The candidates are advised not to be misled by such false information and fake notices. The NTA will also take strict action by filing an FIR under relevant provisions of the IT Act and IPC against those unscrupulous elements who are creating and circulating such false information to mislead the candidates.’
The notice further advised students and their parents to check the official website of NTA for all the authentic information, ‘The candidates and their parents are also advised to only rely on the authentic information available on the official website of NTA jeemain.nta.nic.in and www.nta.ac.in for latest updates or call at 8287471852 8178359845 9650173668, 9599676953 and 8882356803 for any further clarification.’
Tweeting the official notice issued by NTA against the fake news, AICTE also advised students not to believe everything that gets circulated on social media.
Amid canceled and postponed examinations due to the imposed nationwide lockdown in order to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus, academic bodies are trying their best to keep students informed about all the latest updates and assist them in respect of rescheduled exams, online classes, awaited exam results, and more.
