In the wake of nationwide lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic, the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) have unveiled online remedial classes for students of Delhi. This is likely to help the students who are stuck in the lockdown. According to a statement given on Tuesday by ABVP, all registered students would be eligible to join. Students had suffered thousands of hours of classroom instruction. They were not being able to get access to public libraries. Taking this into consideration, ABVP-Delhi and DUSU had brought together more than 80 teachers and professors from prominent institutes, such as Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Delhi University (DU), to offer online mentorship in more than 20 disciplines.

According to ABVP Delhi state secretary, Sidharth Yadav, online remedial classes add another dimension to their response to this crisis. As a representative of students, their efforts to help students and society would continue throughout the lockdown. To join these online remedial classes, students from JNU, DU, Jamia Millia Islamia, IPU, Ambedkar University and others can register themselves. During online classes, doubts will be cleared through voice notes, e-mail and discussions. Course materials will also be made available in the digital format. According to DUSU president, Akshit Dahiya, they were thankful to the professors who have agreed to mentor students. They would urge the university administration to institutionalise likewise efforts to increase the scope and reach.

So far, the coronavirus pandemic has taken thousands of lives across the globe. In India, more than 1,600 people have been infected by the deadly virus.
