Human Resource and Development Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank” conducted the third round of his live sessions on Twitter and Facebook today at 12 noon. The HRD Minister heard the plight of the parents and students and resolved their queries during the first and second rounds of his webinar respectively.
This time, the minister named his third live session “Acharya Devo Bhava” and decided to come exclusively for the teachers. The minister will talk and resolve the concerns of the teachers and issues they are facing amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus followed by three phases of nationwide lockdown until May 17.
The prevailing COVID-19 lockdown period ruptured academic activities. While postponed exams and delayed results are raising anxiety among students, teachers are struggling to impart education through various online modes in order to prevent academic loss. To address their issues, HRD minister in his tweet asked teachers to share their queries and concerns with him.
The social media platform soon got flooded with issues such as delayed salary, pay cuts, struggles of online teaching, no salary, etc. To answer these queries, Mr Pokhriyal started the session at 12 noon. During his address to teachers through a webinar today, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' said that evaluation for CBSE answer sheets will be completed in 50 days. CBSE allotted 3000 evaluation centres and began the process a few days ago. While answering Mr. Reshu Jain who asked how teachers would find time for evaluation when they also have to teach at least 4 hours online class and submit daily reports online, the minister said, " that copies are being sent to teachers' homes for the evaluation process and teachers who have been assigned the task of evaluation will be exempted from the task of submitting daily reports. In case a teacher involved in the evaluation process is being asked to submit reports, they can contact CBSE in this regard."
In response to a question from another teacher, KS Kusum from Delhi, he said that teachers who are involved in the evaluation process will not be asked to prepare for the new academic session. He said that paper evaluation in itself is a humongous task and teachers who are already evaluating board exam papers will not be asked to prepare for the new academic sessions.
During the last two live sessions, the HRD minister answered various questions related to the postponed board exams including CBSE, new academic sessions, alternative academic calendar, delayed entrance exams and more. In the webinar, The MHRD announced the JEE Main 2020 April Exam and NEET 2020 exam dates. JEE Main is scheduled to be held in multiple sessions from July 18 to July 23 while NEET will be conducted on July 26. JEE Advanced 2020 will be held on August 23.
