Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to reshuffle his Council of Ministers today for the first time since the 2019 election victory. Just ahead of the Cabinet expansion, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has resigned from the Ministry.
The minister has been keeping unwell. He had contracted covid-19 earlier this year and was hospitalized last month due to post-COVID-19 complications. The resignation has come hours ahead of the big cabinet reshuffle of the Modi government. The list of new ministers will be announced today evening by 6 pm.
Appointed as Minister of Human Resource and Development (HRD) in 2019, Nishank’s designation had changed to Minister of Education or Shiksha Mantri with the change of name of the Ministry earlier this year.
The 61-year-old minister was earlier the chief minister of Uttarakhand before joining the ministry. He was also a member of the 16th Lok Sabha. He is also an author. He has written several novels, stories, and poems. He has written about 44 books in Hindi, many of which have been translated to different languages including English.
On July 6, Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishant announced the JEE Main 2021 Dates for the third and fourth phase dates. The 3rd session for JEE Mains 2021 will be conducted from July 20, 2021, to July 25, 2021, and JEE Mains 2021 fourth session will be conducted from July 27, 2021, to August 2, 2021.
There is speculation that a few more ministers are on their way out, on the basis of a detailed performance review by the Prime Minister and top leaders over the past few weeks.
