Haryana Schools Reopening: The Haryana state government is mulling on reopening schools from Classes 6 to 9 across the state. According to the media reports, in order to enable the students to seek proper guidance from their teachers, the government is planning on taking this step. The decision was made in line with the Centre's decision allowing graded resumption of schools from October 15. On October 7, 2020, state education minister Kanwar Pal said, “If everything goes as per plans, the students of these classes can consult their teachers from October 15 onwards.” Earlier the Directorate of School Education, Haryana issued a letter to district education officers, allowing for the schools to open from September 21, 2020, for classes 9-12 students. While no classes are being conducted in schools, teachers and non-teaching staff are still going to school.
The official reports also suggest that in order to visit their schools, the students are required to get written consent from their parents that they can visit schools to consult teachers about their doubts. While talking to the reporters Mr Pal said, "we are contemplating opening the schools for the students of Classes 6 to 9 to enable them to take guidance from teachers. The final decision will be taken in the coming days."
After being closed since the month of March due to the COVID-19 outbreak followed by the nationwide lockdown imposed in order to contain the virus, Haryana finally partially reopened its schools last month. The step was taken to enable all the students studying in classes 9 to 12 to visit their institutes, but the provisions were made for students outside COVID containment zones only.
