The foundation stone of the campus will be laid in the presence of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri tomorrow (Friday).
As per a TOI report, the construction work of the Institute of Chemical Technology’s Indian Oil Odisha campus (ICT-IOC Bhubaneswar) will begin after August 20. With the support of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), the ICT Mumbai has opened its wing in Odisha and opened a new institute ICT-IOC Bhubaneshwar on March 18, 2018. The temporary campus is running from the Extension Centre of IIT Kharagpur at Samantapuri.
111.79 acres earmarked for permanent campus
The state government has earmarked 111.79 acres of land for the permanent campus at Godiput Matiapada under Delang tehsil of Puri district. It is near IIT Bhubaneswar’s permanent campus at Argul. A total of 73.86 acres of land has been allotted to the institute in the initial phase.
The institute has started executive MTech, integrated MTech, MTech (2 years) and PhD programmes. A total of 261 students have been trained so far. IOCL has contributed Rs 95 crore to the institute till date, sources said.
Patented technology of ICT ‘hydro dynamic cavitation’ has been deployed for cleaning of the Bindusagar Lake. ICT-IOCB faculty have published about 75 numbers of papers in international journals. “It has received project grants to the extent of more than Rs 10 crore with commitments, besides Rs 15 crore through two major conferences,” said Bhaskar Narayan Thorat, Director of ICT-IOCB.
On Friday, the Odisha Chief Minister will also dedicate the permanent campus of Skill Development Institute (SDI), Bhubaneshwar, to the nation in the presence of the Union Education and Petroleum Ministers. The campus is spread over 46.17 acres of land at Taraboi village under Jatni tehsil in Khurda district. It has been functioning from a temporary campus at Mancheswar here since 2016.
