Mumbai University Exams 2020: According to the latest update, the University of Mumbai asked all its affiliated colleges to conduct backlog exams for the 2019-20 session for 1st and 2nd Year students by November 30, 2020. As the decision was on hold since the month of June, students were eagerly waiting for the same. While the 1st and 2nd-year students were promoted to the higher class, the colleges were asked to conduct backlog exams within 120 days of resuming physical classes. According to the decision taken by the University, the backlog exams for the 1st and 2nd year students will now be conducted in the online mode. The Mumbai University backlog exams will be conducted in college-level Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ) format in a manner similar to the final year exams. A committee appointed by the state in June earlier recommended that the exams be conducted physically soon after the colleges re-open.

Considering the ongoing pandemic situation and no clarity on when the state will re-open colleges, the University decided to conduct the exams within the 120 day period which will allow the students, colleges and the varsity to focus on the regular semester-end examinations. The University also stated that colleges that successfully conducted backlog exams before March 23, 2020, are not required to conduct them again. As the exams for the graduating batch have already been conducted and many important results are already announced, the varsity is now planning to conduct the backlog exams soon, said an official adding that these exams are conducted at the college-level itself. He also said that once the backlog exams are conducted the focus will be on the semester-end exam for the year post-Diwali. The colleges will be on break for Diwali from November 12 to November 18, 2020.
