My Engineering to Management Journey at KIIT
COLLEGE & COURSE COMBINATION
Recently, I completed my MBA in Business Analytics & Marketing from KIIT School of Management, Bhubaneshwar. Choosing KSOM over other reputed Business Schools was one of the most important decisions of my life. I believed it would shape me into a better individual. I was confident that the knowledge, learnings and experiences gained at KSOM would be instrumental in shaping my future in the long term.
My parents and I were confident in my decision to attend KSOM, as my undergraduate experience at KIIT School of Technology in 2019 had given me first-hand knowledge of the academic and extracurricular opportunities that KIIT offers. I very well knew that this institute had an environment where I could thrive and prosper.
I would also like to share how national-level conclaves at KSOM, which are scheduled every year, have helped me in building my confidence and interpersonal skills. When I joined this institute, I was too shy to share my thoughts with other people, but as time passed, I think I have evolved into a much better individual.

Let’s not forget the very unique initiatives of the ‘mentor-mentee’ program and ‘Konfidant’ sessions. Likewise, in ‘Konfidant’, we got to interact with professionals coming from diverse industries.
COURSE OF STUDY IN SCHOOL
After appearing for the board exams in Class 10, I was a bit confused and nervous about which stream I was going to opt for.
At that point, the most common choice was to take Science and pursue Engineering after intermediate. The same was the situation with me, but finally, I decided to go with the Science stream, along with Biology. The reason for choosing this stream was my keen interest in Science and my curiosity to learn more in the same field. Everything was going smoothly, I also participated in different extra-curricular activities. After all this, I passed my Class 11 with just an appreciable percentage of marks. I just secured 68% marks.
The hard work and determination required are of another level at this stage. At the same time, you need to handle the parental and peer pressure of performing the best in the boards. I scored well in intermediate, but I wouldn’t say it was not enough.
Q: How is KIIT School of Management for pursuing MBA?
KIIT School of Management is a great choice for pursuing BBA and MBA courses. The institute offer good placements annually for its BBA and MBA courses. In 2024, the participating recruiters placed students of the institute in various sectors and new-age job profiles. The highest international package offered during KIIT MBA placements 2024 stood at INR 18 LPA. However, the highest domestic package offered stood at INR 19 LPA. The key highlights of KIIT MBA placements for the Class of 2022, 2023 and 2024 are tabulated below:
Particulars | Placement Statistics (2022) | Placement Statistics (2023) | Placement Statistics (2024) |
---|---|---|---|
Highest international package | INR 17 LPA | INR 20 LPA | INR 18 LPA |
Highest domestic package | INR 23 LPA | INR 12 LPA | INR 19 LPA |
Average package | INR 7 LPA | INR 9 LPA | INR 9 LPA |
After board exams in Class 12, I appeared for KIITEE, along with few other exams. I won’t suggest anyone to go and prepare for several universities and entrance tests at the same time, because it will just distract you. Initially, choose the college or stream which you want to go for, and prepare for that only. In the end, along with the guidance of my family, I decided to get admitted to KIIT.
PASSION FOR B.TECH & MBA
After the entrance results were declared, it was now time to choose the appropriate branch. Finally, I decided to get admission into this institute, which is one of the best and most renowned private universities in India. I selected Civil Engineering because I love to shape and construct anything.
However, after working for almost 3 years at two different and reputed organisations, I decided to pursue MBA, particularly with Business Analytics specialization.
COLLEGE LIFE AT KIIT
It was July 2015 when I was ready to go for the Engineering lectures and practicals. I was very excited but a little bit nervous as I was going to see many new faces. Life as an Engineering student for me has been full of adventures.
Now, I have recently completed my third year of Engineering, and I will be heading to the last year in July. This and next year are going to be crucial and deciding years for my future journey. My parents played a major role in helping me decide my career in Engineering.
In 2022, I had the opportunity to join KIIT School of Management for my Masters, and I must say, it was a memorable stay at KIIT. Our annual mega B-school fests, Kolosseum and Kuriocity 2023, were vibrant two-day events featuring 34 diverse cultural, sports, and fun activities. Participating in these events not only allowed me to compete and hone my skills but also provided valuable learning experiences.
