In a conversation with Shiksha.com, experts at KJ Somaiya Institute of Management talk in detail about their three-year part-time MBA programme, which is a perfect blend of online and classroom learning. The programme has been designed keeping in mind the needs of working professionals, making them ready for managerial roles in future. Here they share all important information about the admission process, fee, curriculum design and placements. They also list reasons to consider K. J.  Q: What is the eligibility criteria and selection process for admission in part-time MBA programme at K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management?

A: To be eligible for admission in the part-time MBA programme at KJ Somaiya, the applicant must have a graduation degree from a reputed university in any discipline with a minimum two years of work experience.

As a part of the admission process, the eligible applicant must fill up the online application form. Basis the profile screening, the applicants will be called for document verification and personal interview round. Basis the complete profile, desired goals and performance in personal interview round the candidates will be selected and will be given offer letters.

Below are the important dates related to the 2020 admission process:

Selection Process begins: June 14

Class commencement: July 12

Q: What are the various specialisations offered to students?

A: Keeping in mind the need of the industry, we offer specialisations in the core area of Management education. It includes:

• Marketing management
• Finance management
• Human Resource management
• Information management

Q: How is the curriculum of the three-year part-time MBA programme designed?

A: The three-year part-time MBA programme is a blend of online and classroom learning. As this programme is designed for working professionals, who are unable to pursue full-time courses, we decided to offer them quality education of equal value through part-time MBA.

From Monday to Friday students can attend online classes between 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm and on weekends, they need to travel to campus for classroom learnings. Full-day sessions will be organised on weekends.

As it not a distance programme, so lecture recordings will not be available to students. At a time four subjects or courses will be taught followed by exams.

Q: What is the cost of the three-year part-time MBA programme?

A: The total cost of the programme is Rs 2.97 lakh, which can be paid in three installments. These are:

• First year: Rs 97,000
• Second year: Rs 94,000
• Third year: Rs 1.06 lakh

This cost also includes Rs 10,000 as caution fee, which will be refunded at the end of the programme.

Q: Do you also offer placements to students?

A: Upon completion of the programme, students are ready to take up managerial jobs. Though we do not offer any formal placement assistance but students do get good career opportunities through the network and also the opportunities are shared periodically by college management.
