The Punjab government will conduct classes for the students studying in state-run schools on Doordarshan Punjabi Channel.
With an aim to avoid any academic loss of the students during the ongoing coronavirus lockdown in the country, the Punjab government has announced that it will impart educational lessons from the curriculum of the state-run schools on Doordarshan Punjabi Channel.
The schools, colleges, and other educational institutions around the country were shut down and classes were suspended in mid-March to contain the spread of coronavirus in the country.
The state government will broadcast the lessons for students of Class 9 from 9 a.m to 11.15 a.m, from May 19. Similarly, for Class 10 students educational lessons will be broadcasted on Doordarshan from 11.15 a.m to 1.45 p.m. The Classes 3,4 and 5, the telecast timing will be from 1.45 p.m to 2.45 p.m.
From April 20, the school education department has been conducting education programme on DTH platform for Classes 7 and 8. The Director of Education (SS) has written a letter in this regard to all the District Education Officers and the school heads.
The school heads will get the feedback of these programmes on a daily basis and will ensure that the teachers concerned will also watch these programs, the government said in a statement.
The teachers will be in constant touch with the students and will pass on the time table and schedule of these programs to them, it said.
Earlier, Punjab Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla has directed schools who are imparting online education to the student to charge a tuition fee for lockdown period and admission fees, any other form of charge shall not be charged from the students.
