The MoU will ensure quality, meaningful, and futuristic education through advanced in-built and in-house mechanisms, adaptation of continuously changing teaching and learning modes, and pedagogical approaches.

A tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between Punjabi University, Patiala and University Grants Commission (UGC) on January 13, 2020. This pact will ensure quality, meaningful, and futuristic education through advanced in-built and in-house mechanisms, adaptation of continuously changing teaching and learning modes, and pedagogical approaches.

Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC) director Professor Gurmeet Singh Maan, Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) director Dr Yograj, and vice-chancellor Professor BS Ghuman have signed this MoU. As per the MoU signed by the Punjabi University, the teachers will not only render knowledge but will also transform into digital resource designers, digital source designers, and pedagogical engineers using the resource available on EMRC-run DTH channels and MOOCs.

According to the university’s spokesperson, such MoUs are being signed by the UGC with universities having both HRDCs and EMRCs to convert them into enhanced centres of digital learning.

A press release generated by the university says that it is the central government’s mission to increase access to high-quality education with the help of specially-designed pedagogical programmes based on MOOCs. These specially organised programmes will have teaching teams that will be interprofessional in nature. There will be challenge-based activities where teachers will collaborate with students to produce educational content jointly.
