The Ministry of Union Tribal Affairs has instructed all Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and Eklavya Model Day Boarding Schools (EMDBS) to reschedule their holidays.

With schools around the country being shut down due to the coronavirus spread, the Ministry of Union Tribal Affairs has directed all the states with Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and Eklavya Model Day Boarding Schools (EMDBS) to reschedule their holidays.

In view of the current contingent situation, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs have issued instructions in respect of the Eklavya Model Residential Schools for the rescheduling of Holidays in Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and Eklavya Model Day Boarding Schools (EMDBS) which are funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

The Ministry announced that this year, as a special case the summer holidays will be advanced and schools will remain closed from March 21, 2020, until May 25, 2020, or until further orders whichever is earlier.

The Ministry has also asked states to ban the entry of any outsiders on to the campus for the time being. Those students who are appearing for the Board examinations or are attending special classes may be retained with the due care on the campus. Students sitting for board examinations shall be sent home immediately after completion of their respective papers.

Schools must organise special drives to sanitize the school campus, academic block, hostels, and other common areas, the Ministry said.

The Ministry has also asked teachers to create awareness amongst the students about the necessity of personal hygiene, especially during this coronavirus outbreak.

The teachers of these schools can go on holidays once they declare the results. The results can be communicated to the students by post and sms, the Ministry said.
