We have instructed all the schools to remain closed for 10 more days as of now. We will provide them with all the necessary COVID-19 guidelines before reopening the premises for students, he said.

Haryana government has decided to extend the reopening of schools across the state by ten more days. Health Minister for the state, Anil Vij, while making the announcement, said that the schools in the state will not reopen until December 10, 2020. Earlier, the state government had announced that the schools in Haryana will remain closed until November 30. The decision to extend the duration of school closure in the state was taken considering the rising COVID-19 cases in the country.

While speaking to the reporters, he said, "We have instructed all the schools to remain closed for 10 more days as of now. We will provide them with all the necessary COVID-19 guidelines before reopening the premises for students.”

Many school students and teachers in different districts were found positive for coronavirus after they reopened last month. Over 150 school students from three Haryana districts -- Rewari, Jind, and Jhajjar -- had recently tested positive for coronavirus infection after which these schools had been closed until further orders. The students who were asymptomatic too had tested positive during a random sampling drive carried out by the health department for the schools. Haryana was amongst the first few states in the country to reopen schools under Unlock 5.0 guidelines released by the Ministry of Home Affairs permission earlier.

Schools, Colleges and other educational institutions across the country were allowed to reopen in a phased manner after being closed for more than seven months owing to the Coronavirus outbreak and as a preventive measure to avoid further spread.
