Schools in Srinagar reopen for Classes 10, 12 following COVID-19 protocols

Schools in Srinagar commenced offline classes on Monday, September 21, for Classes 10 and 12. The reopening has been done adhering to COVID-19 protocols. According to HT report, students were enthusiastic and happy about attending schools after a long period. Many students claimed that while schools were conducting online classes but they feel more comfortable with offline classes. Schools are following all the precautions laid down by the health ministry in order to avoid the virus spread.

Wearing masks, using sanitizers, maintaining social distancing, and thermal screening are some of the factors taken care of by the schools. According to HT, expressing happiness about meeting friends in the school, a student, Humaira Manzoor said, "I am very happy that schools have reopened. Now I can meet my friends and teachers. Even, I was not able to study anything at home due to network issues."

Further, a teacher of the English Faculty in the same school, Shabina Taj told HT, "We are getting very good response from students. All the students are very happy about physical classes. Students are even bringing their queries to discuss with us. Also, staff and students, both are following the SOPs issued by government."

On September 5, Jammu and Kashmir Government ordered the reopening of schools for students of Class 12 and 10 and staff with 50 per cent capacity. However, no school can force students to attend offline classes. Online classes will continue and in case students want to attend offline classes, they would require written consent from their parents.
