VTU releases odd semester calendar for 2021-22 academic year

Academic calendar may be modified based on directions issued in the future by MHRD/UGC/AICTE/State Government, said Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). 

The VTU has released the odd semester academic calendar of various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the 2021-22 academic year. Students can check the calendar on the official website of VTU at vtu.ac.in.  

Odd semester for UG programmes begins on October 1 

As per the circular, the odd semester for undergraduate programmes will commence on October 1 for semester V and VI of BE/Btech and BArch/BPlan and semester IX of BArch, while that of semester III of all those programmes will start on October 18. The practical exams will be held in February and theory exams in February and March 2022.  

However, MCA semester III and V will start on October 1, semester III of MBA and MTech commences on November 8. Semester III will start on November 22. The practical exams will be held in February and theory exams in February and March 2022. Academic Calendar may be modified based on guidelines/directions issued in the future by MHRD/UGC/AICTE/State Government,” the VTU said. 

Academic calendar also applicable to autonomous colleges 

The circular read, “Academic calendar is also applicable for autonomous colleges. In case if any changes are to be effected by autonomous colleges in the academic terms and examination schedule, they could do so with the approval of the university.” 

It further read, “Offline classes may be conducted either by staggering the timings in two sessions in a day with 50 per cent capacity for each session or full day session with 50 per cent capacity on alternate days following all SOPs. The college has to conduct offline classes to cover 80 per cent of the syllabus of the courses. However, 20 per cent of the syllabus can be covered in virtual (online) mode.” 

The VTU said attendance of the students’ for offline and online classes was mandatory and record should be maintained and submitted to university whenever informed. Students joining BE/BTech semester VII and MBA/MTech/MArch semesters III and BE/BTech semester VII should complete internship before the commencement of the classes.
