I am Bipasha Sharma, a student of the NSHM Knowledge Campus. While doing my higher secondary education, I gradually started developing a great fondness for the subject of psychology and wanted to explore as much as possible. It was then that I decided to pursue psychology for further studies. Initially, my inclination was more toward the government colleges due to which I filled out application forms for only a few colleges. However, due to strict cutoffs and limited seats, I couldn't get into my dream college. When I was on the verge of a mental breakdown, NSHM Knowledge Campus came to my rescue. My friend from school recommended this college to me and I was overwhelmed by the excellent academic programs and infrastructure facilities that the college offers.

Why I chose NSHM Knowledge Campus to pursue Bachelor in Psychology?

I am currently doing BSc Honors in Psychology which is a three-year course and will be graduating by 2025. NSHM Knowledge Campus is near my house in Kolkata. With 25 years of academic experience, 65 professional degree programs, and an almost 3000 robust alumni network, NSHM Knowledge Campus is well-versed in imparting education. It is affiliated with and authorised by AICTE and MAKAUT. The college provides 40 courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels combined. The college, which has locations in Kolkata and Durgapur, hosts seminars, webinars, and workshops to expose students to real-world situations and provide them with practical experience in addition to academic knowledge.

My Psychological Aspirations!

Why I chose psychology over any other subject is because it helped me become more aware of myself. Psychology is more than curing illness and disorder. It's about strengthening character and bringing out the best in people. Interacting with people and understanding their human behavior and aspects have always fascinated me. With a grasp of the subject, I aim to lend a hand to others, inculcate confidence in them and show them the way around.

Studying in higher secondary school about the different psychological disorders and serious mental health issues made me realise that there is a whole different world I am unaware of. I was then driven toward the reason behind such severe issues and their treatment, following which I grew a keen interest in the subject. I wish to become a psychologist who is trustworthy, reliable, and honest to her clients, who can build up their confidence and not let them give up by pushing them to move forward.

Taking up Challenges and not Fearing to Fail is the Key

I have always believed that the one who can overcome his fears is the bravest. I have always been that bubbly kid who has repetitively been scolded for being restless and most talkative. Even though I am an extrovert, the anxiety of expressing my opinion in front of others has always bothered me. Stage fright always overpowered me. Recently, my teacher asked interested students to submit their names at a national conference. Suddenly a voice from within as if forced me to take part in the conference, it was so unlikely of me to do what I was most afraid of. With intensive research work, I prepared my research paper and I was all set to present my paper in Durgapur before the esteemed judges, students and professors of various colleges. Mustering up courage, I made it to the podium and presented my work. When it was time for the judges to counter-question the presenters; I still remember a judge saying that he was surprised to find so much talent in the young people. Pointing at me and my research partner and friend, the judge appreciated the details and the facts given in our paper calling us the best speakers at the National Conference. This whole event brought me to tears. That moment is by far one of the best ones of my life. This incident taught me a lesson about stepping out of my comfort zone and taking up challenges. Even though one might fail miserably, one should still give it a try and not regret it later.

  Being a part of the NSHM Knowledge Campus Family, turned out to be the best decision of my life as it introduced me to a better version of myself with more confidence and spirit. There is a quote that says "There is no paradise that you can escape to." Take small steps one by one to make your life a paradise instead of running away. That should be the motto of all.
