Why you should pursue Bachelors of Commerce (BCom) from PIMR

What is a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) course?

Bachelor of Commerce is one of the widely pursued UG courses after senior schooling. The programme has a duration of three years, expanded into six semesters covering a number of subjects, such as Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Science, International Business, Management, Human Resources, etc.

Scope of Bachelors of Commerce (BCom) course:

1. Pursue Higher Education-

Individuals at PIMR are always encouraged to pursue higher studies. One can apply for a Master of Commerce (MCom) or Master of Business Administration (MBA). The course includes two years of full-time study and after completion of this course, job opportunities increase by manifold. Based on specialisations, students can find employment in financial services, marketing, project management, etc. Oftentimes, they also work in general management and business consulting firms. 

2. Chartered Accountancy (CA):

Chartered Accountant is one of the best career choices after graduating from BCom. A student can enroll in the CA programme right after completing school, unlike the MBA course for which a minimum undergraduation is required. The duration of this course is three years, and it can land the candidates into multinational companies, and one can also become a practicing CA at their own firm.

3. Company Secretary (CS):

Company Secretary (CS) is one of the most essential requirements in an organisation. They are responsible for managing all the legal aspects of a firm/organisation. Their role includes taking care of a company’s tax returns, maintaining tax records, offering actionable advice to the board of directors, and ensuring that all the legal and statutory regulations are followed. 

4. Business Accounting and Taxation (BAT):

The course of BCom is meticulously outlined by industry experts to refine aspirants to become industry-ready for accounting job roles. The learning modules of the course comprise topics such as financial reporting using finalization of financial statements, direct taxation, ERP software, Goods and Service Tax (GST), payroll components ESIC, and MIS reporting.

There are many more global career options available after graduating from BCom,  such as Certified Financial Planner, Financial Risk Manager, ACCA, US- CMA, CPA, etc. Opportunities are never ceasing in the field of accounting and with the sector booming with the rapid up-gradation in technologies, professionals with the knowledge of numbers are going to be in much more demand than before.
