XIME Kochi Prepare Students to Face Real-World Challenges, says Mallar
Hi there, I'm Mallar, a young and vibrant hotel management student hailing from the culturally rich land of West Bengal. And now, I have embarked on an exciting journey to Kochi, Kerala, to pursue my PGDM in XIME, Kochi. Being away from home for the first time, I am eager to soak in all the experiences that this new chapter in my life has to offer. I am a passionate dancer, and I love to capture my moves on camera for my YouTube/Insta reels. Music is my solace, and I enjoy listening to different genres while exploring new places. I'm also an avid traveller and can't wait to explore the nooks and crannies of this beautiful place – knowns as God’s Own Country.
Q1. How did you choose your course of study in school (class XI-XII)? What made you choose your current college/course (undergrad/post-grad)?
XIME, Kochi campus, is a renowned institution that has been my top choice for pursuing my PGDM. The decision to choose this institute was not arbitrary but based on several factors that make it stand out from other institutes. Firstly, XIME's excellent reputation in the field of management education is well-known. Its distinguished faculty, experienced staff, and state-of-the-art facilities make it an ideal place for pursuing higher education. The institute's focus on holistic development and practical learning has been a major factor in my decision.
Secondly, XIME has a well-established network of industry partnerships that offer students excellent opportunities for internships, live projects, and placements. This provides students with hands-on experience and exposure to the latest industry trends, preparing them to face real-world challenges.
Thirdly, XIME's location in Kochi offers a unique advantage. Known as the commercial capital of Kerala, Kochi is a hub for numerous industries, providing ample opportunities for students to interact with industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and business experts. It is located next to Maker’s Village, one of the largest electronic startup incubator in Asia.
Fourthly, XIME’s impeccable placement record with an Avg. CTC of Rs. 10.3 lacs is too good of an ROI for a fee of 9 lacs (that is the fee of 2023 academic year) and I guess one cannot ask for a better return than this.
Lastly, the institute's focus on nurturing entrepreneurial spirit and leadership qualities has been a major draw for me. The institute offers various programs and initiatives to promote innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills. In summary, I chose XIME, Kochi campus, for its reputation, industry connections, location, placements and focus on holistic development. I am excited to be a part of this prestigious institution and look forward to a rewarding and fulfilling experience.
Q2. How you cracked admission in your current college? What all entrance test(s) did you give? Any coaching classes that you took for preparation? Any other colleges that you were trying out for? What challenges did you face while opting for this college?
Getting admission into XIME, Kochi campus, was a challenging but rewarding experience. The selection process included clearing the MAT and CMAT entrance exams and going through a rigorous selection process of a group discussion and a personal interview. My strong academic track record in my 10th, 12th, and graduation was an advantage, but it was not the only factor that helped me crack the admission process. I had to prepare well for the entrance exams, develop my communication and analytical skills, and be ready to face any challenges that may come my way during the selection process.
During the group discussion, I had to work collaboratively with other candidates, listen carefully to their ideas, and present my thoughts effectively. This helped me showcase my leadership skills and teamwork abilities. The personal interview was the most challenging part of the selection process. The interviewers asked me various questions related to my academics, extracurricular activities, and personal life. They also tested my problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
Overall, the selection process was rigorous but fair. It helped me identify my strengths and weaknesses and gave me an opportunity to showcase my potential. Despite the challenges, I was able to impress the interviewers with my skills and abilities, which helped me secure a spot in this prestigious institution. In conclusion, cracking the admission process in XIME, Kochi campus, was a challenging but rewarding experience. It required good preparation, honest in my answers, confidence, and the ability to face challenges head-on. The panel was very friendly and supportive to get the best out of me.
Q3. How you spend your time at college? Which classes do you like to attend? Which extra-curricular activities are you a part of in college? If given a chance, what else would you want to do? How has your college experience changed you as a person? What opportunities do you see in future?
My experience at XIME, Kochi campus, has been truly transformative in many ways. The institute's focus on providing a holistic learning experience to students has helped me grow both personally and professionally. Apart from the opportunities mentioned earlier, XIME also provides unique opportunities like engaging in live projects, engaging in a social project called SUPA, and the opportunity provided through two unique subjects, Learning Circle and Contemporary Business Environment. This has helped me develop a better understanding of the practical aspects of management and has prepared me to face real-world challenges with confidence. The projects have also helped me develop my problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Being a part of the social project, SUPA, has been a fulfilling experience. This project is aimed at creating awareness about sustainability and has helped me understand the importance of sustainable development. Through this project, I have been able to contribute to society while also learning about sustainable practices.
The unique subjects like Learning Circle and Contemporary Business Environment have been valuable addition to my learning experience at XIME. Learning Circle is a subject that focuses on personal and professional development and helps students develop essential skills like leadership, communication, and teamwork. This subject has helped me become more self-aware and has helped me develop my interpersonal skills. Contemporary Business Environment is a subject that focuses on understanding the current business scenario and the challenges faced by businesses today. This subject has helped me develop a better understanding of the global business environment and has helped me develop my strategic thinking skills.
In conclusion, my experience at Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship, Kochi campus, has been truly transformative. After my transformative experience at XIME, Kochi campus, my future plans are clear. I aspire to pursue a successful career in the hospitality industry, climb the ladder of success, and take up managerial roles in reputed hotels. Additionally, I am passionate about entrepreneurship and aim to explore opportunities in the hospitality sector.
