Why MBA from IITs?
MBA aspirants may ask, “why pursue an MBA degree from an engineering institute?” There are many reasons why one should considered pursuing MBA from IITs; some of them are listed below:
- CAT percentile required for admission to IITs is much lower than that required for IIMs and other top MBA colleges in India. For example, IIT Delhi MBA cut off is 98 percentile while IIT Bombay MBA cut off is 97 percentile, much below than that of IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Indore and others.
- All the seven IITs offering MBA are ranked among to 50 MBA institutes in India (2025) by NIRF-MHRD - IIT Delhi (Rank 4), IIT Kharagpur (Rank 12), IIT Madras (Rank 13), IIT Bombay (Rank 14), IIT Roorkee (Rank 22), IIT Kanpur (Rank 27) and IIT-ISM Dhanbad (Rank 46). IIT Jodhpur has made an entry in the top 100 this year, at Rank 98.

Yes. IIMB does require the CAT exam, but the rest of the top B-schools in Bangalore also take in candidates through the state-level CET, ie, the Karnataka PGCET exam, or through MAT or CMAT.
