JEE Advanced 2016 Expected Cut-off Released
JEE Advanced 2016 concluded on May 22 and soon after the exam, various coaching institutes came out with the expected cut-offs for the exam this year. Please note that these cut-offs are based on the difficulty level of JEE Advanced 2016. IIT Guwahati, which was the organizing institute of the exam this year, will soon be releasing the official cut off for JEE Advanced.

According to Ramesh Batlish, Center head, FIITJEE, the exam was tougher this year as compared to last year. He says, “The cut off is generally 10 % in each subject and 35 % of the total Marks including both papers. But looking at the difficulty level the expected cut off could be around 24 %-25% of total marks. The expected cut- off for a rank till 15000 would be 110-115 marks”. He further states, “ I think, a student with the last rank would probably need around 93-95 marks to be shortlisted for IITs”.
Director of Academics at Career Point too feels that the JEE Advanced cut offs for 2016 will be lower than the last year. He shares, “ This year the exam was lengthy and difficult if you compare it with the exam held in 2015. I feel, JEE Advanced cut offs will be lower this year. Considering there are approximately 10, 000 seats in IITs, a student with a rank of 10000 would need somewhere around 120-125 marks to qualify. However, generally, the ranks are released for upto 18000-19000 seats. So, a student with a rank of 19000 will require around 95-100 marks to get through”.
“A score of 160 and above will be good. Any student who manages this score may end with a rank between 2000-2500”, he added further.
