A candidate should research the company well, that is the company’s background, if it has been taken over recently, it’s partners and so on, says Evlyn Fernandes.

According to me, the most important and vital tip for an interview is confidence. I consider this is as the major one because if one has the confidence to do something then already half the work is done. Even if a person is prepared with theoretical knowledge and lacks confidence then one ends up messing up. Work ethics also play a role in making an impression on the seniors. Now let’s dive into the interview preparation tips without any delay. The interview may be a personal interview, group interview or sometimes it can be a panel of interviewers. One has to prepare oneself thoroughly so as to avoid fumbling and nervousness.

The candidate should research the company well, that is the company’s background, if it has been taken over recently, it’s partners and so on. The interviewer may tend to give a situation to the candidate and may not stick to the basic question and answer format. One has to prepare themselves for such kind of scenarios. If you are applying for a Human Resource Management related job, then you might be given a situation asking your opinions on how to resolve a conflict or how would a deal with a poor performing employing. The answer to this is, well one has to make use of their brain and there is no specific answer to this one, it differs according to people. The thing which one has to keep in mind is that they have to stay calm and composed and not panic!!! This is no tic tac toe, it is a mind game and one has to prepare themselves mentally to expect the unexpected. Even after attending so many seminars it didn’t help much until I faced a one on one interview. The first time is always not the best trust me, but eventually, you will pick up courage and see improvement.

Also, the thing which may irk the interviewer is when one tries to make up facts that are unreal. Therefore, the utmost care has to be taken to while answering in order to set a good impression of oneself. For the record, one should avoid bragging about themselves as it puts a message across that you are self-centered and it may seem unnecessary. Let your answers be precise and to the point. Make sure you answer what is asked of u. One has to keep in mind that the knowledge penned down on the resume/C.V. is not copied.

My college has a placement cell and nowadays campus recruitment is becoming a common aspect in many colleges, which is a very good thing. Colleges also conduct career guidance programs to enlighten the minds of the students who are in a dilemma when it comes to opting for the right career. There are mock interviews conducted to prepare students for job interviews. There is a subject based solely to this context. More educational institutions should opt for this as it can prove to be a saviour to the students in despair.

So, I would say the 3Cs to ‘crack’ an interview is to stay CALM, CONFIDENT & CARRY THE RIGHT ATTITUDE.
