31 disqualified for cheating on day 1 of Assam AHSEC HS exam

Education boards have taken strict measures this year to check any sort of misconducts in the exams. Jammers will be installed in sensitive centres and every centre will be under CCTV surveillance.

 

The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) class 12 examination commenced on February 12 (Wednesday). On the first day of exam, 31 students were barred for cheating. The students were caught indulging in unethical practice at the time of examinations by the board officials. The most cases of cheating were reported from Dhubri where 14 students were disqualified for the exam due to the act, with 8 examinees from Hailakandi, 6 from Karimganj. The other districts where students were found cheating were Barpeta- 1, Lakhimpur- 1, Cachar- 1. The debarred students will be penalised according to the board regulations. The students can be disqualified from taking examination up to two years.

In the meantime, overall 36 students were also barred after they were found cheating on the first day of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) class 10 examination. Overall 21 students were barred in Dhubri, 2 in Darrang, Nagaon- 4, Lakhimpur- 3, Goalpara- 1, Hailakandi- 5. The Assam High School/ High Madrasa examination was commenced from February 10, 2020.

Around 40 observers and 850 supervisors have been employed by the board to have a look at the examination process. The invigilators will not be permitted to carry any sort of electronic gadgets inside, however, this rule does not apply to the board-appointed observer.

The Higher Secondary examinations will be held on March 14, while the High School examination on February 29, 2020. The practical exams will be held from February 18 to 29, 2020.
