CBSE published an official notice on its website on May 11, 2020, stating that the evaluators will begin the evaluation of CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th board exam marksheets from May 12. Talking about the suspension of the evaluation work, CBSE stated, “CBSE on dated 18.03.2020, as a precautionary measure and in compliance of the instructions received from Secretary, Department Of Higher Education/ School Education and Literacy, Government Of India, dated 18th March 2020, suspended evaluation work Of the answer sheets of Class-X and XII boards examinations to avoid the spread Of Covid-19.”
The notice further talks about the permission granted the ministry of Home Affairs, “Now, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government Of India vide Office Memorandum 40- 6/2020-DM-(A) dated 9th May, 2020 has granted special permission for operation of 3000 CBSE affliated schools, selected as Evaluation Centres, for the limited purpose of work associated with evaluation of answer sheets and transportation of answer sheets to the residences of evaluators except in the area falling in the containment zone. It has further been directed that Evaluation Centres and Regional Offices, CBSE shall ensure observation of National Directives for COVID-19 Management.”
Stating that strict precautions will be taken against the spread of COVID-19 during the evaluation process, the notice further reads, “Accordingly, it is notified that CBSE would start evaluation work Of the answer sheets of Class-X and Class-Xll boards examinations from 12.05.2020 (Tuesday).”
According to the reports, CBSE started the evaluation work for the 10th 12th board examinations 2020 within a week from the commencement of the exams. However, the evaluation work for the many subjects was still underway when the evaluation process got suspended on March 18 due to the nationwide lockdown in order to contain the virus spread.
Meanwhile, the minister of Human Resource and Development, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ announced the dates for pending CBSE exams. According to the announcement, the pending examinations will be conducted between July 1 and July 15. However, the revised CBSE Class 10 Date Sheet 2020 and CBSE Class 12 Date Sheet 2020 are yet to be released.
It is expected that the existing answer sheet evaluation work would be completed by the end of May or the latest by early June. The authorities would take another few weeks to complete the evaluation work for the pending exams and release CBSE 10th Result 2020 and CBSE 12th Result 2020 by July-end or August first week.
