In the circular released earlier, CBSE mentioned that it has issued parameters to measure Mental Illness and Intellectual Disability to all the schools affiliated with the Board.
An official notification released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on its official website, dated, October 7, 2021 talks about the facilities extended by the Board to Children with Special Needs or CWSN candidates. The circular has been released in continuation to a circular dated 14/02/2020 released by the Board with regards to the medical certificate of candidates with Intellectual Disability or Mental Illness.
In the circular released earlier, CBSE mentioned that it has issued parameters to measure Mental Illness and Intellectual Disability to all the schools affiliated with the Board. CBSE in its earlier circular asked Person with Benchmark Disabilities to submit medical certificates and specify the Level to get exemptions in the class 10/12 board exam and all exams of DOE until CBSE Class 12 under the Right to Disabilities Act 2016. The clarification released by the Board in its latest circular states that it is committed to implementing the Rights of Person with Disabilities Act 2016 in its true form. The board has also mentioned that it would sincerely and persistently ensure that the right of its students under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 are maintained.
CBSE further clarified that the circular issued on February 14, 2020, did not intend to lay down any procedure or rule. It aimed to inform all stakeholders about the "assessment of the extend of the specified disability in a person included under the Rights of Person with Disabilities Act, 2016."
In case of any ambiguity, schools, students and other concerned are requested to follow the instructions issued by the ministry of social justice and empowerment and the department, government of India for details, the Board added.
