ICSE decided to conduct the ICSE 10th Board Exams 2020 for pending papers. Students may get a chance to opt-out and get marked on the basis of internal assessment.
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) submitted a proposal in the Bombay High Court on conducting the remaining ICSE (Class 10) Board Exams 2020 and ISC (Class 12) board exams 2020 stating that students can choose not to appear for the exam and be assessed on the basis of internal or pre-board marks. The Board submitted the proposal in response to a petition filed by a parent seeking directions to the authorities to cancel the ICSE 10th Exams 2020 and ISC 12th Exams 2020 amid the pandemic crisis.

The outbreak of the novel coronavirus in the country postponed a few papers of the ICSE 10th Board Exams 2020 and ISC 12th Board Exams 2020. According to the revised ICSE 2020 Date sheet released by the Board, CISCE decided to conduct the pending 10th board exam from July 2 to July 12. Approximately 2.8 lakh students are expected to sit for the pending ICSE Board Exams 2020. As per the revised ISC timetable 2020, the examinations are scheduled to begin from July 1 and conclude on July 14, 2020.
In the proposal, the CISCE also stated that “for the avoidance of doubt, for those subjects where examinations have already been conducted, results in those subjects will be declared based on the student’s performance in such examinations.".

According to the media reports, the next hearing, on this matter, will be held on June 17. In the first hearing, the CISCE cleared that the pending ICSE and ISC Board Exams will be conducted following all the precautionary and taking all the safety measures for children which includes, sanitization of examination halls/classrooms daily after each exam paper, maintenance of social distancing of minimum 6 feet in the seating plan, staggered entry and exit from the examination venue to avoid overcrowding, thermal screening of students and staff at the main gate, compulsory wearing of masks and use of sanitizer for all candidates and staff.
The Council also said that no student will be permitted to share or borrow stationary. Wearing gloves while collecting and packing the answer sheets of the students will be compulsory for the invigilators.
Meanwhile, the speculations state that after conducting the exams according to the ICSE 2020 Date sheet from July 2 to July 15, ICSE will release the ICSE 10th Results 2020 in the last week of July. On similar lines, the 12th board results i.e. ISC Results 2020 will be released.
