On March 22, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBCHSE) asked teachers to put off the scheduled process of submission of class 10 state board examinations marks and answer scripts to head examiners until further notice in the wake of coronavirus outbreak in India.

On March 22, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBCHSE) asked teachers to put off the scheduled process of submission of class 10 state board examinations marks and answer scripts to head examiners until further notice in the wake of coronavirus outbreak in India. According to the official notice, the Board president, Kalyanmoy Ganguly directed teachers evaluating the class 10answer scripts that submission of marks and answer scripts of the secondary examination "shall remain suspended".

Talking about the postponed submission of the marks, the Board suggested teachers give sufficient time on the answer sheets and check them twice to avoid any mistake. It also asked the teachers to keep the answer scripts checked and ready for immediate submission whenever asked by the Board after the improvement of the emergency situations.

According to the earlier schedule, the examiners were supposed to submit the WBCHSE papers after completing the evaluation work to the respective head examiners from early next week. The answer sheets were then to be checked and analysed by the head examiners and submitted to the Board after tabulation of the marks. The State Board commenced the class 10 examinations on February 18 and concluded the same on February 27.

In the wake of coronavirus, the education system around the globe is raptured. All the academic institutions received the orders of closure by the state government when a large number of positive coronavirus cases started coming under notice. So far, the total number of positive coronavirus cases has risen to 415. The disease has claimed around seven live until now. While the World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared the disease as a pandemic, India   Government is taking all possible measures to control the spread of the virus.
