Kerala postponed Class 10 and Class 12 board exams on March 20, 2020, due to the rapidly spreading pandemic, coronavirus. The decision reflects the urgency in government preparations and prevailing emergency conditions due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
The state board examination in Kerala commenced on March 10 and was scheduled to end on March 26. So far, three exams for class 10 and six exams for class 12 are pending. On March 20, during a special meeting held by the state’s chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the decision to postpone the board examination was taken considering its importance and safety of the students as well as the staff members.
According to local reports, University exams in the state are also going on and respective Boards are yet to take a decision regarding their suspension and postponement.
Not just Kerela Board by TS SSC Board along with other major state boards such as Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (RBSE), and Punjab State Education Board (PSEB) also postponed the class 10 and class 12 examinations.
The total positive cases in India has risen to 207, the disease has claimed 4 deaths so far, one each in Delhi, Punjab, Maharashtra, and Kerala. The number of people that are under observation in Kerala is almost 31,173. Out of the total, 237 people are in isolation in hospitals and rest are at their homes.
