Due to the nationwide lockdown, it is not possible to conduct the annual examinations.
Chhattisgarh government closed all the academic institutions, colleges, universities, and other academic institutions due to the COVID-19/Coronavirus outbreak in India. As a precautionary against the rapidly spreading disease, the government also suspended the ongoing examinations. Now, the state government has decided to promote all students of class 1 to class 9 and class 11 students to the next class without examinations.
The decision of promoting students up to class 11 (except CGBSE 10th and CGBSE 12th) to the next class without any examination is taken to avoid the risk of spreading the COVID-19. According to a reputed source, the Director Public Education received permission from the state’s CM to promote the students up to class 11 (except class 10 and 12). The Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel stated that the education board has decided to defer all annual examinations from class 1 to class 11 (except class 10 and class 12). All the students belonging to these classes will be given a general promotion to the next class without examination. The promotion of the students to the next class will take place on the basis of their performance throughout the year.
Chhattisgarh government ordered the closure of the academic institutions and suspension of examinations on March 20. The entire state is under lockdown since then following the subsequent 21 days nationwide lockdown announced by the Prime Minister. Earlier, the state had decided to conduct examinations after the lockdown period. However, with the extension of the lockdown period, conducting annual examinations in the state is not possible. Considering the sensitivity of the situation, the government of Chhattisgarh decided to promote the students of classes 1 to 9 and 11.
