COVID-19: HPBOSE, UBSE, WBCHSE postponed class 10, 12 exams

In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, State Boards such as HPBOSE, UBSE, and WBCHSE have postponed class 10 and class 12 examinations. 

In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, State Boards such as Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE), West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE), and Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) postponed all the examinations scheduled in their states. While HPBOSE has postponed the examinations scheduled up to March 31 till further orders, WBCHSE has postponed the examinations for class 10, 12 till April 27, the UBSE postponed the high school and intermediate examinations till further notice. According to the latest reports, the Boards will announce new dates for the examinations after analyzing the prevailing emergency situation due to the pandemic.

The decision of postponement by the Board is taken keeping the safety of the students and teachers in mind. The reports regarding the postponement of the board examinations started flooding in after the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (HRD) ordered the state boards to postpone exams in order to curb the chances of novel coronavirus spread.

Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (RBSE), Punjab State Education Board (PSEB), Kerala State Board, and Telangana State Secondary School Certificate ( TS SSC Board) postponed the class 10 and class 12 examinations.

Following the government directives, the engineering entrance exam, JEE Main exams scheduled for April 2020 by the National Testing Agency (NTA) are also postponed. The JEE Main exams were scheduled on April 5, 7, 9, and 11. Now, NTA will announce the fresh schedule for the examinations later. The total number of coronavirus positive cases in India have reached 283 claiming 4 lives, one each in Delhi, Punjab, Maharashtra, and Kerala.
