COVID-19 lockdown: J&K government extends last date of school fees submission

According to the J&K government’s official orders, the last date to deposit school fees is now extended to April 30.

The school education department of Jammu and Kashmir ordered all the schools located within the boundaries of J&K to extend the last date of fee submission. The novel coronavirus led 21 days nationwide lockdown extended the closure of academic institutions, postponement of examinations, and suspensions of classes. While schools and universities are shifting to e-learning modules to prevent loss of studies and keep students connected to the process of learning, there are schools and universities that have started harassing parents and students to pay academic fees on time.

 In order to prevent this harassment, the government of Jammu and Kashmir school education department released an official notice directing academic institutions including private schools to extend the last date to deposit the school fees.

According to the J&K government’s official orders, the last date to deposit school fees is now extended to April 30. The notice also stated that schools cannot charge any late fees or extra fees for online lectures or assignments or link the student’s result based on his/her hoe assignments.  

 

The official statement made this clear that the orders are applicable to all the schools affiliated with CBSE, JKBOSE, ICSE, or any other board. It further states that the violation of orders will result in strict actions taken against the institution. The notice also appreciated the efforts schools and colleges are putting in making the study material and assignments available for the students through WhatsApp, email, YouTube, and online lectures.

 The notice clearly states that the country is under a severe crisis that has ruptured the health, economy, and education system of human society. In order to control the virus spread, the lockdown is implemented and people are asked to stay inside their homes and practice social distancing. The total number of positive coronavirus cases in India has reached 1199 claiming the lives of 29 people. The total number of positive coronavirus cases in Jammu and Kashmir is 45.
