The state board examination in Kerala commenced on March 10 and was scheduled to end on March 26. So far, three exams for Kerala SSLC i.e Kerala 10th and six exams for Kerala 12th are pending.
In the midst of the nationwide lockdown due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, Kerala Higher Education Department announced the revised schedule for the pending Kerala board exams 2020. The rapidly spreading COVID-19 raptured the education system across the globe. Every year in the month of March, various state board exams are conducted. However, this year, one of the crucial exam cycles got disturbed due to the virus spread. However, the Kerala Department of Higher Education now decided that the pending board exams will be conducted from May 11 onwards.
Kerala board examinations got postponed in March due to the virus spread in the nation. However, the state decided to lift the lockdown partially from April 20 onwards. Hence, the examination activities can also run smoothly. According to the reports, April 20 onwards the state will begin the paper evaluation process as well. The state education department formed an educational committee under the leadership of Dr B Ekbal, Member (Education and Health) Planning Board and former Vice-Chancellor of the Kerala University to finalize the examination process. According to the reports, the government order from the Higher Education Department, Kerala states, ‘Universities shall make arrangements for conducting the balance examinations starting May 11, 2020, and home valuation starting April 20, 2020. The examinations may be conducted in such a manner that they can be completed in a week's time.’
The notice further states that sufficient time must be given to the students to prepare. It also mentioned that all the exams shall be conducted following the precautionary to control the COVID-19 spread and the social distancing norms issued by the Health Ministry. The official notice states, ‘Universities are encouraged to try out on-screen marking system in some subjects where valuation is pending. Director, EFIRD is directed to make presentations to all Universities on the on-screen marking system that is developed and can be administered by them.’
