The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Education decided to award Maharashtra SSC students an average of their scores in other subjects as their marks in Geography. The paper of Geography subject was cancelled by the board while conducting Maharashtra SSC Board Exams 2020 due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus followed by the imposition of the nationwide lockdown to contain the virus spread.

The Maharashtra Board cancelled the pending Geography paper for more than 17 lakh Maharashtra SSC students. Varsha Gaikwad, School Education Minister of the state announced the cancellation of the pending Geography and Work Experience papers.
