Union Home Affair Minister Amit Shah tweeted that: "Taking into consideration the academic interest of a large number of students, it has been decided to grant exemption from the lockdown measures to conduct Board examination for classes 10th & 12th, with few conditions like social distancing, face mask etc, for their safety."

Though due to the coronavirus outbreak, the schools and colleges around the country will continue to remain closed like before, the notice allowed CBSE, ICSE and other states to conduct Board exams, which were disrupted or are pending.

In the official notification released by the Ministry, it stated that considering the larger academic interest of the students, the various boards are permitted to conduct the pending board examinations. However, strict guidelines must be adhered to, in order to ensure the safety of the students and the personnel involved in the board examination process.

  2. Wearing of face marks by teachers, staff and students would be mandatory at all times
