The Supreme Court of India (SC) has asked the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to consider scrapping the remaining Class 10th and Class 12th Board exams and to allot the marks on the basis of internal assessment. The 3-judge bench chaired by Justice A M Khanwilkar has asked CBSE to take instructions and inform the court about the decision by Tuesday i.e. June 23, 2020.

The Court was hearing a petition by a parent Amit Bathla seeking CBSE to cancel the pending class 10th and class 12th exams in view of coronavirus crisis in the country and urged the court to direct the Board to mark students on the basis of internal assessment in view of coronavirus pandemic.
Alleging that students will be exposed to the pandemic if they appear for the examination to be conducted at 15,000 exam centres, a group of parents pleaded to the court to intervene and stay the decision.
As per the revised Class 10 date sheet 2020 and CBSE Class 12 date sheet 2020, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be conducting the exams from July 1.
Parents have said that the CBSE has cancelled the CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th exams 2020 for around 250 of its schools that are situated abroad and has asked to award marks to students on the basis of either practical exams conducted or the internal assessment marks, then why similar approach cannot be followed for students in India.
