Coronavirus Outbreak: IIM Indore, Lucknow, Shillong, and XLRI annual convocation postponed
IIM Indore stated that everyone’s safety and well-being come first for the institute. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 Coronavirus and the advisory issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to avoid mass gatherings, the Institute has postponed the event.
Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIM-I) has decided to postpone its 21st annual Convocation. The management institute had scheduled the convocation on March 24 and March 25, 2020. The decision to postpone the convocation has been taken in view of the COVID-19 or coronavirus outbreak in India. While talking about the coronavirus outbreak the IIM Indore Director stated that the situation is being closely monitored by the management institute and the new date for the annual Convocation will be released depending upon how the situation unfolds in the coming days.
Announcing the postpone of the annual Convocation, the management institute has released an official statement stating that everyone’s safety and well-being come first for the institute. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 Coronavirus and the advisory issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to avoid mass gatherings, the Institute has postponed the event. It further stated that the situation is being closely monitored by the institute and the new date for the Convocation will be decided depending on how the situation unfolds in the coming.
One of India’s premier institutes, IIM Indore expressed that it took this decision after consulting the same with all the stakeholder groups and intense deliberations that concluded that the safety of the people involved in the Convocation event is foremost over everything else.
Meanwhile, the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, IIM Shillong, and XLRI- Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur have also postponed their annual convocation due to the outbreak of Coronavirus.
WHO has declared COVID-19 Coronavirus a Global Pandemic. The recent outbreak of Coronavirus in India has created a state of panic and distress. Considering the state of panic UNICEF has released a precautionary advisory against coronavirus for children and adults to battle the disease.
